The city has already discussed and prepared alternatives to the Measure K sites, at locations already contained within the housing element.  As recently as August 5th, the city attorney acknowledged that a simple amendment of the element could handle shifting these sites to another location.

The city has promised HCD that it will place this Measure on the ballot.  The city did not, and could not, guarantee to HCD that the voters will approve sacrificing parks.  When Measure K fails to pass, the city can make its amendments.

Despite the pace of affordable housing regulations and Court support for more draconian State mandates, no one can force us to start giving up parks.

We will not get more parks like MLK in Sausalito in our lifetimes.  Once we start sacrificing parks, the State will not stop until every square foot has been built out. The city is already talking about the next places to sacrifice.

Vote No on K.  Stand up for equal access to our parks and open spaces.  Do not risk the city’s loss of control over the site or massive expenditures to attempt to hold on to what they have now promised to you.
